Anthony Cosmo Out Against Colorado

According to Steve Bermel from NLL.com, Buffalo Bandits goaltender Anthony Cosmo sustained a lower body injury in a non-lacrosse situation. He will be out tonight against the Colorado Mammoth and rookie Dave DiRuscio will make his first career NLL start.

Cosmo’s injury has been announced to be a knee injury while shoveling snow this week. DiRuscio has only played in one NLL game, saving ten shots and giving up four goals on January 31st against Rochester.

“I’ve been working hard, getting ready for it,” Diruscio said to Bandits.com. “It’s a part of the position, right, staying ready, always working hard and you never know what’s going to happen so you always have to be ready.

Backing up DiRuscio tonight will be Zak Boychuk, a former backup with the Toronto Rock.

Last season DiRuscio led the Niagara Lock Monsters of the Canadian Lacrosse League to a championship and was named MVP of the playoffs, so he has seen pressure situations in the past.

Cosmo’s goals against average this season has been 12.52, on pace for his second best season in Buffalo. He is tied for the sixth best total in the league with Colorado’s Dillon Ward.
