Black Wolves Sign Adams, Bowes; Cut Campbell

The New England Black Wolves were active tonight, announcing several signings and cuts along with other transactions. To start, they cut Rob Campbell, the Rochester Knighthawks draft pick who was initially traded to Philadelphia in the Dan Dawson trade. They also cut Merrick Thompson, who hasn’t actually played in years.

The ‘Wolves signed Bill O’Brien, Marty Bowes, Brent Adams, Chris Collins, Jake Lazore, and Joshua Becker to one year deals, which means they made it past the first two phases of training camp.

Collins was the third string goalie with the Wings last year and it this point it seems likely he will take the same role. Lazore is also a goaltender, and it seems he beat out former Rhode Island Kingfish goalie Joe Evans to move on.

Both Bowes and Adams play for Major League Lacrosse’s Boston Cannons. Bowes played indoor in 2013 with the Boston Rockhoppers where he was one of the team’s leading scorers.

Meanwhile, New England placed CJ Costabile, John Ranagan, and Garrett Thul on the protected player list. We knew Thul would be out this season serving in the army, but there is no clear reason while Costabile or Ranagan are out. Speculation would suggest possibly because they play in MLL as regular starters.
