Chamberlain: Conference Playoffs Begin

Friday Night Lights Kicks off an action packed Weekend of College and Pro Action

Patriot League Playoffs

Army vs. Lehigh

I like Lehigh in this matchup between two very well coached teams. Lehigh is balanced on offense and has strong goaltending with junior Matt Poillion. My prediction is Lehigh by three.

Loyola vs. Colgate

I made the mistake of not picking Loyola in the regular season matchup. I’m not going to make that mistake twice. Loyola and Joe Fletcher are too much for Colgate to handle. My call is Greyhounds by four.

ACC Tournament

Maryland vs. Notre Dame

Maryland has a ton of firepower and has the edge in goal with Niko Amato and at the faceoff with Charlie Raffa. Notre Dame will have to control the time of possession to win this game. I just don’t see that happening with Raffa dominating faceoffs. In a close battle, I like Maryland to win by three.

Syracuse vs. Duke

Duke is the hottest team right now. Syracuse has had some close wins of late versus UNC and pulled away late versus Hobart. I really like what Duke is doing on offense, and Jordan Wolf having a monster season for the Blue Devils. With that said. I like Duke by 5.

Other Games

Princeton over Cornell by three.

Stony Brook over Hartford by one.

UNC over Virginia by two.

Hofstra over Penn State by three.

Denver over Marquette by five.

Major League Lacrosse Weekend opens up.

Ohio vs. Charlotte

I like what Bear Davis did at the end of the 2013 season and I’m looking for Ohio to be a playoff team in 2014. I’m taking the Machine by three.

Denver vs. Florida

Denver has the edge in terms of experience, but I really like this Launch squad being built by Stan Ross. Also Kevin Crowley is going to have another huge year in 2014. In a close one, I’m going with Florida by two.

Chesapeake vs. Boston

Coach Cottle continues to show that he is a master with building a team at Chesapeake, while Boston counters with a fully healthy Paul Rabil and a full season under John Tucker. I like the Bayhawks by three in their sweet new uniforms.

New York vs. Rochester

This Lizards team cannot afford to get one or two games under them and get hot, this team needs to come out firing on all cylinders on day one. Rochester is a young team and David Lawson is going to have a huge year but I like the Lizards by three in the opener.
