Hounds Prospects Wrap Up 2013

Mike Sawyer

Position: Attack

College: Loyola (Md.)

Acquired: MLL Collegiate Draft – first round, eighth overall

The former Charlotte Catholic standout earned All-America honors for the third-straight year after leading the Greyhounds with 36 goals on the season; he added seven assists for 43 points. Sawyer finished his career at Loyola with 128 goals, the second-most in the school’s Division I history, and his 154 points rank eighth in that category.

Michael McCormack

Position: Defense

College: Yale

Acquired: MLL Collegiate Draft – seventh round, 51st overall

The West Islip, N.Y. native was named team captain for the 2012-13 season. McCormack was second on the team with 55 ground balls and led the Bulldogs with 34 caused turnovers; he also added seven points on the season (three goals, four assists). He finished his senior campaign Second-Team All-Ivy League, First-Team All-New England and Ivy League All-Tournament Team.

John Haus

Position: Midfielder

College: Maryland

Acquired: Trade with Hamilton (second round, 15th overall by the Nationals)

Haus, a Chapel Hill native, completed his senior season finishing fourth on the Terrapins with 28 points (18 goals, 10 assists). He showed his worth as one of the top all-around midfielders in the country by earning his third All-America honor.

Matt White

Position: Midfielder

College: Virginia

Acquired: MLL Collegiate Draft – fourth round, 28th overall

White was an ACC All-Tournament performer in 2012-13, scoring 43 points for the Cavaliers (29 goals – career best, 14 assists). The midfielder concluded his career with an ACC Tournament record of 10 goals and 13 points for the event, including seven goals in his final collegiate game.

Mason Poli

Position: Long-stick Midfielder

College: Bryant

Acquired: MLL Collegiate Draft – fourth round, 27th overall

Poli is a unique talent, with the ability of being a scoring threat as a long pole. He scored 22 points (14 goals, eight assists) in 17 games for the Bulldogs, making him the team’s seventh-leading scorer. He also finished 33 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers.
