Hounds Top Bayhawks in OT

The Chesapeake Bayhawks lost a nail-bitter on Saturday night at Navy-Marine Core Memorial Stadium as Hounds attackman Ryan Young scored an unassisted goal off a rebound to secure his team’s overtime victory 16-15 in front of 3,330 fans.

Chesapeake had John Grant Jr and Drew Westervelt both score hat tricks In the loss, midfielder Michael Kimmel had a couple of two-point goals hit the back of the net while team leader Kyle Dixon dished out four assists. The Bayhawks have now lost four of their last five matches.

“I think we got a bit unlucky tonight. There were several times when the ball just didn’t bounce our way,” Bayhawks head coach Dace Cottle said.

The Bayhawks return home on Thursday, July 18th against the Boston Cannons at 7:30 PM at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Hawks are now tied with the Hounds at 4-4 for the third seed in the MLL playoff race. The Hounds outshot the Bayhawks 34-28, and won 19 out of 31 faceoffs.

Adam Ghitelman made 15 saves for Charlotte while Kip Turner made 20 for the Bayhawks in the loss.
