How the Edmonton Rush Built Their Draft

Paul Rabil may have never shown up to play for the Edmonton Rush, but they still got something out of the Athan Iannucci trade. Mark Matthews will be the number one overall pick for the Rush, and they got that pick from the Washington Stealth.

Edmonton has stockpiled draft picks for the next few years, thanks again to a deal involving Iannucci. The Rush acquired him from the Philadelphia Wings for Brodie Merrill, and the Wings also sent Edmonton three first round picks.

Edmonton has the eighth overall pick, which comes from them going to the NLL Champions Cup and losing. Their pick they got for Merrill this season has ended up with the Minnesota Swarm.

The Rush traded their first round pick for next season to Minnesota as well, but they still have a draft pick from Philadelphia for the 2013 draft. Edmonton has both of their first round picks for 2014 still.

Cody Hawkins is projected as the eighth overall pick to the Rush in our mock draft.
