Inferno Prepare for weekend double header

The Brampton Inferno have a busy weekend ahead of them as they play back to back nights against the Oshweken Demons and the Niagara Lock Monsters. The Demons and the Inferno faced off last weekend with the Demons walking away with the victory 16-8.

In the first meeting between these teams Brampton started out strong as they were able to keep pace with the Demons to begin the game. At half the inferno were only down 5-4 but the game was still in reach. The problem for the Inferno was the second half as they were dominated by the Demons. The Demons took advantage on the power play as the Inferno were undisciplined in the second half and took too many penalties.  The Inferno’s goal tending also struggled as Steve Fryer and Jay Preece struggled and were never able to get in a groove.

The keys for the Inferno in this rematch is first and foremost to play 60 minutes of Lacrosse they cannot stop playing in the second half and take penalties. The second key is their goaltending needs to be better as they cannot allow Oshweken to get on a run or else they will be finished. The Inferno need to once again play rough and tough against the Demons and try to grind them out as their offense  cannot keep up in a shootout against the Demons. The Inferno though did show offensive depth as 5 different players had points in the first game. The Inferno will need to watch out for the trio of Roger Vyse , Derby Powless and Wayne VanEvery they cannot allow any of these player time or else they will be in trouble. The Inferno can beat the Demons but they need to be discipline.

In the Inferno’s second game of the weekend their lives get no easier as they face the Niagara Lock Monsters who are coming off a dominating performance against the Iroquois Ironmen. The Lock Monsters offense is similar to that of the Demons as it can strike quickly and often. The Inferno will need to play solid defense in order to have a chance of beating the Monsters. The Inferno need to watch out for Corey Fowler and Kim Squire on the Monsters as both are off to hot starts to the year and will give the Inferno defense trouble. Expect the inferno to try to slow the pace of the game  and rely on John McClure to spark the offense.

This is a big weekend for the Inferno who are 0-1 if they can win either of these games they will show the league that they belong in being considered one of the elite teams in the league.
