Marquette Looks to Stay Hot in Jacksonville

The No. 13 ranked Marquette Golden Eagles University men’s lacrosse team will gladly escape the artic of the north for spring break and head south this weekend to take on Jacksonville today, March 6. The Golden Eagles have impressed this season with four one goal games all resulting in wins against Lehigh, Hofstra, Richmond in overtime, and most recently vs Ohio State last Saturday.

Jacksonville Dolphins is also riding some momentum coming off a win vs big 10 foe, Michigan, following an overtime win over Saint John’s. The Dolphins also won last year’s contest in a 9-8 battle. I would expect a really tight game between these thriving lacrosse programs.

Marquette is on the back half of ten game road stand that will take them back up the coast with games against, Mercer, Georgetown, Villanova, and Bellermine, respectively. The golden Eagles only host three contests this years which will only benefit a team going into the tournament if they can continue success on the road.

Jacksonville is a very unselfish team, assisting on 67% of their goals this season. Over their first three games, the Dolphins have been led by Chase McIntyre, who has tallied nine goals.

JU has won 61 percent of its face offs, which ranks 13th best in the nation, both man down defenses are stifling coming ranked 11th best and 13th best, with Marquette representing the latter.
