MLL: Cannons Look to Go On Run

The Boston Cannons won their game in Charlotte last week, now they return home to face the New York Lizards who look to solidify their playoff position. The first game of the MLL season saw the Lizards take a 14-11 home win over Boston, but this game will be played at the Cannons friendly confines of Harvard Stadium.

The Cannons shut out the Hounds in the second quarter last week as it seems goaltender Jordan Burke has finally found his rhythm. They will need to ride him against a Lizards team that can put up the goals. Head coach Joe Spallina said last week that Rob Pannell is their QB on offense. Can the Cannons shut him down and still worry about Stephen Berger and Mark Matthews?

Rookie Will Manny has already made an impact with the Cannons and his matchup with Pannell will be an interesting one. Who wins the rookie battle?

Despite the weapons that the Lizards have, they are second to last in scoring this season. They need to find a way to turn it on in order to break the three way tie they have for the fourth MLL playoff seed.

The Cannons to score, as would any team led by Paul Rabil, Matt Poskay and Mike Stone. However, Rabil was shut out last week, but they were still able to score 15 goals. Do the Lizards go with that same approach, or do they let Rabil get his points?

The Boston defense has struggled at points but with PT Ricci back in action, the Cannons should find a way to keep the low scoring Lizards under 12 goals. Game time is 7:30pm.
