NCAA: Division Two and Three Games Friday

Entering our fourth weekend in NCAA Men’s lacrosse, we still have some teams just starting off their 2013 season. Here’s a look as to what’s to come this Friday:

Friday, February 22

D2:

Pace vs. Adams State 3pm – This is the first game of the season for both teams, and the first time they will meet on the lacrosse field. Pace put together a 5-10 season in 2012, while Adams State went 3-6. Anthony Damico and Josh Peterman return for the Grizzlies as the top two scorers from their 2012 campaign. Matt Mirabito takes the lead for the Setters, bringing with him his 59 points (24G, 35A) from last season.

Florida Southern vs. Lindenwood 7pm – The Mocs will hold host to the Lions tonight. Florida Southern is coming into the game after losing their season opener to Tampa 12-7. Lindenwood is just starting their 2013 journey after posting a 7-6 record in their programs inaugural season in 2012. The Lions are looking to start off on the winning side of the ball while the Mocs are searching for their first win in 2013.

D3:

Calvin vs. Concordia 4pm – Another game of firsts, as Concordia starts their season this afternoon in the first ever meeting of the Knights and Falcons. Calvin has had a rocky start to the year, losing to Carthage 30-2 in their varsity debut and then dropping another contest to Baldwin-Wallace, 10-7. With the addition of some new freshmen, the Falcons return it’s top scorer from 2012 in Derek Brueske who tallied 27 goals and 14 assists last season. The Knights are still looking for their first program win, can it come against Concordia? We will see this afternoon.

Whittier vs. Oneonta 7pm – With a 1-0 record to start 2013, Whittier douced Morrisville 16-6 on Tuesday. With Oneonta traveling to Whittier, the pressure will be on them to prove themselves as this will be the first time these two teams do battle. The Red Dragons return their top three point scorers from 2012, who combined for 105 points (66G, 39A). Junior Zack Gagnon is leading the Poets with 6 points (4G, 2A) and will be a top priority for the Red Dragon defense.
