NLL Announces Draft Date of October 1st in Toronto

The National Lacrosse League has announced that the 2012 NLL Entry Draft will take place on Monday, October 1 in Toronto at the Westin Harbour Castle.  The draft starts at 7pm Eastern and will be broadcast live on The NLL Network at NLL.com.  The Edmonton Rush currently hold the first overall selection in the Draft.  The current order of selection for the six round draft is listed below. Attendance is free of charge.

In conjunction with the draft, a player combine for draft prospects and free agents will be held on Sunday, September 30 at the new Toronto Rock Practice Facility in Oakville, Ontario.  The lacrosse facility is a project put together by Rock Owner and President Jamie Dawick with the aim of having a significant impact not only on the overall operations of the professional lacrosse team he owns, but also on the game in general in the Greater Toronto Area.

“The Toronto Rock are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to showcase our new practice facility in Oakville,” said Rock Owner & President Jamie Dawick.  “Hosting a combine is something that is beneficial for the entire league and not just the Toronto Rock.  We look forward to making this an annual event.”

Information regarding player participation & eligibility for the combine will be announced in the coming days.  The 2012 NLL Entry Draft Eligibility Requirements can be found by visiting NLL.com.

Dawick’s nine-acre property, which will be home to the Toronto Rock business operations and practices, is located on Invicta Drive in Oakville with easy access from the Queen Elizabeth Way.  The lacrosse facility will have two pads, one with a turf floor and one with a concrete playing surface.  The main spectator pad will have enough seating to allow the Rock to host NLL exhibition scrimmages in the future.

In addition to housing the Toronto Rock team offices, the yet to be named facility will have a retail store, state of the art fitness centre as well as a physiotherapy clinic.  The team will continue to play it’s NLL regular season and playoff games at Air Canada Centre in downtown Toronto.
