NLL: Mammoth Look to Turn It Around Against Rock

The Toronto Rock (6-3) will look to remain atop the NLL standings when they host the Colorado Mammoth (2-6) tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Despite being first overall in league ranks, Toronto is on the rebound heading into this evening’s match-up after suffering a 15-13 home loss to the Buffalo Bandits last weekend.

The struggling Mammoth are in the midst of a four game losing streak, including a 12-11 loss at home last week at the hands of the Rochester Knighthawks.

An intriguing factor in this game is the showdown between two of the games most dangerous scorers in Garret Billings and John Grant Jr. The record setting 116 point season from Grant Jr. last season bested Billings’ totals by only two as Billings finished the year with 114 points.

Billings was recently named the NLL’s Player of the Month for February after recording 30 points in four games. Billings has 59 total points on the season to lead the Rock and trails only Shawn Evans of the Calgary Roughnecks for the league lead.

Grant Jr. has recorded 48 points on the season for the struggling Mammoth, including 2 goals and 5 assists last week’s loss to Rochester.

Tonight’s game marks the only meeting between the Mammoth and the Rock this year and first time the Mammoth have played at the Air Canada Centre in over five years. The Mammoth defeated the Rock 19-12 at home in the lone meeting between the teams last season.
