NLL Power Rankings Week 17; Rush(ing) Into the Playoffs

Week 17—All Playoff spots are clinched. Seedings in west are set. Only thing left is who will host round one in the east.

 

EAST DIVISION

Rochester Knighthawks (13-4) —Clinched East Division title.

Buffalo Bandits (8-9)—Clinched a playoff berth. Can clinch at least one home playoff game with:

Win vs Rochester or a Rock Loss to Minnesota.

Toronto Rock (8-9)—Clinched playoff berth. Can host at least one playoff game with:

A Win and A Bandit loss

 

WEST DIVISION

Edmonton Rush (15-2)—Have clinched West Division title and top overall seed with home field advantage throughout playoffs.

Calgary Roughnecks (11-6)—Have clinched playoff berth and at least one home playoff game

Colorado Mammoth (7-10)–Clinched playoff berth

 

Power Rankings   Week 17

(1) 1—Edmonton Rush (15-2) Have dropped two of last three, including a 14-13 OT loss to Calgary. This week’s game is meaningless as far as positioning goes. Edmonton’s goal is to finish the season without an injury. Will host the Stealth in the regular season finale Friday night 9:30.

(2) 2—Rochester Knighthawks (13-4) Defeated the Bandits 8-4. With the East locked up the Knighthawks will also be looking to end the regular season without injuries. Rochester can also help play spoiler by winning the final game and possibly dropping the Bandits to a road game in round one. Will travel to Buffalo for a contest Saturday night 7:30 pm.

(3) 3—Calgary Roughnecks (11-6) Stole this one from the Rush 14-13 in overtime. The tying goal was scored on an obvious over and back missed call. But Dickson’s seventh goal of the game was the difference. Roughnecks will host a first round game next weekend. This weekend they will try to stay injury free and travel to play the Stealth Saturday 10 pm.

(4) 4—Toronto Rock (8-9) The Rock defeated the Bandits 13-9 to keep their hopes of a first round playoff game alive. A win this weekend, combined with a Bandit loss with give the Rock that home game. Travel to play Minnesota Saturday 8 pm.

(6) 5—Colorado Mammoth (7-10) Huge win over the Swarm 18-12 to clinch the final playoff spot. Mammoth will face Calgary in round one. This weekend it’s a rematch from Week 14. Mammoth travel to face the Wings Saturday 7:30 pm.

(5) 6—Buffalo Bandits (8-9) Another weekend sweep. After starting 8-2 and the front runners to win the east, the Bandits have now lost seven in a row. Bandits need a win or a Rock loss to host a first round playoff game. Bandits will host Rochester Saturday night 7:30 pm.

(7) 7—Philadelphia Wings (6-11) After being eliminated last week, the Wings rebound for a 15-11 win over the Stealth. Wings will close the season this weekend as they host the Colorado Mammoth and old friend Drew Westervelt. Game Time Saturday 7:30 pm.

(8) 8—Minnesota Swarm (4-13) Swarm will look to spoil Toronto’s chance of hosting a first round playoff game and end the season on a high note. Host the Rock Saturday 8 pm.

(9) 9—Vancouver Stealth (4-12) A rocky season finally comes to an end for the Stealth. Back to back games this weekend. They travel to face the best team in the league, the Edmonton Rush, Friday 9:30 pm. Then they return home for a final curtain call this season as they will host the Roughnecks Saturday 10 pm.
