Outlaws Take Down Dragonfish in Opener

The Continental Indoor Lacrosse League opened their season last night as the Chicago Outlaws defeated the Grand Rapids Dragonfish 19-10. Chicago, who has been a dominant force in the league for the past three seasons, continues their typical strong offensive push.

Chicago scored the first two goals of the game before the Dragonfish tied it up, but the Outlaws scored three more in a row to hold a 5-2 lead going into the second quarter. Chicago led 9-5 at the half thanks to three goals from rookie Joe Opron and two from Lance Yapor.

Opron scored his fourth goal of the game to give Chicago a 10-5 lead. They led 14-6 after the third quarter with the Outlaws holding Grand Rapids to just one goal in the third. The Outlaws scored twice quickly and had a ten goal lead, but ultimately the score would be 19-10 Outlaws for the final.

Joe Opren, the rookie, led the game with six goals in his CILL debut. Yapor scored four goals and three assists to total for seven points overall. Dylan Weber and Ryan Knuatz each put in two for the Outlaws as well while Brian Larsen made nineteen saves and Des Bailey made seven.
