In game one of the Final Four semi-final we a defensive game for the first 45 minutes.  Then both teams woke up scoring a combined ten goals in the 4th quarter. Five of the goals came off the stick of Notre Dame So. Sergio Perkovic (Notre Dame scored 6 total).

This was an instant classic of a college game.  Denver’s defense sttod tall by holdin the Irish scoreless for 19:48.  One would think at this point Denver would runaway with it, that was not the case.

Every time it looked as if Denver was putting the game away, Notre Dame would fight back.  This was a street fight of a game which was fitting as we are in Philadelphia.

The game had its highlight goal by Denver’s Wesley Berg.  An over the shoulder, behind the back shot through the five hole on a bounce.  To add more drama, Irish Sr. Nick Osello scores with 9 seconds in regulation to send this game into OT.

Then Wesley Berg ended the drama at  2:03 by rifling a shot to the top left corner vaulting Denver to its first NCAA Championship game.

No doubt in my mind the fans in Philadelphia loved the first game.  If game two is anywhere near as exciting there will be a lot of happy fans on this day.
