Rattlers Announce New Home Stadium for 2015

BROCKPORT, NY  (March 17, 2015)  The Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse have come to terms with The College at Brockport to announce Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium as the host site of their 2015 season.  The stadium is located on the campus of the SUNY institution in the heart of downtown Brockport NY and also plays host to several major events in addition to their own collegiate schedule, including the Special Olympics and the Courage Bowl.

“We are excited to announce, along with the great folks at Brockport, our new home for the upcoming season is Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium” said Rattlers COO Brad Ford.  “We had a very successful 2014 campaign (making it to the MLL Championship), and now working with dedicated school officials that want us to succeed and helped put this deal together, our year promises to be amazing!”

Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium is a newly renovated venue, boasting a capacity to host up to 11,000 people.  The turf field, press box, lights, sound system and scoreboard (among other things) are only a few years old.  When asked about his impression of the venue, Ford stated “When I first came out to see the facility, I was blown away by how beautiful it is and the amenities it has to be able to host the kind of events it does, and certainly the new ones it will in the future…including MLL games!”

“We don’t really demand a lot operationally for a venue to host our games since we are fairly self-contained in that aspect.  But the few small things that we need from a facility are extremely important, for both our game regulations and especially national TV broadcast.  This stadium easily meets all of those needs and more, along with a staff that is eager to work with a team at the highest level of professional lacrosse while wanting to see us do well” he explained.

Due to unexpected circumstances, the announcement was forced to be made closer to the season opener than desired.  This agreement, however, allows the team to tap into different markets and allows the Rattlers to continue to grow new and larger corporate partnerships.  The stadium itself provides a logistical landscape that lends to different pre and post-game events and sponsorship opportunities.  From Carnival Day (a festival for families) to Military Day for active and veteran service members, an exciting and enjoyable event for every home game promises to provide the kind of entertainment sports fans are looking for.

“The College at Brockport is proud to begin a new partnership with the Rattlers and MLL” said Lee Welsh, Assistant Director of Athletics with The College at Brockport.  “We are committed to helping the Rattlers create the very best fan experience that we can” Welsh continued.

The Rattlers home opener is on Sunday, April 19th @ 1pm.  Tickets can be purchased by calling the Rattlers front office at (585) 340-6905 or emailing lee.eyrick@rochesterrattlers.com.  Ticket prices range from $15 – $20, and groups of 20 or more can purchase tickets as low as $10 each.  The Rattlers expanded their season ticket package offerings to include the new RATZ PACK, a 10 ticket voucher booklet that can be used for any regular season home game, and in any amount.  It provides flexibility for families and a large discount off of box office prices.  The only major scheduling change will be the June 5th game moving to Sunday, June 7th @ 1pm.
