Roughnecks Re-Sign Scott Ranger

The Calgary Roughnecks general manager Mike Board announced today that the National Lacrosse League club has re-signed right-handed forward Scott Ranger to a one-year contract.  Defencemen Matt Leveque and Brad Richardson have also signed one-year agreements.

Ranger recently completed his eighth season in the National Lacrosse League.  He recorded 24 goals and 37 assists for 61 points and collected 30 loose balls over 16 games with Calgary during the 2012 campaign.  Over six seasons with the Roughnecks, the 29-year-old Nanaimo, B.C., native has posted 333 points, including 147 goals, and collected 300 loose balls.  In 2009, Ranger won his first Champion’s Cup with Calgary where he tallied four goals and added nine assists in three playoff contests.

“Scott is one of the core players on our offence and it is important to move forward with our core group,” said Board. “Scott is an offensive threat with a hard, accurate shot from the outside and soft hands in close. He has captured the Western Lacrosse Association scoring title for the past two seasons while playing summer lacrosse in Nanaimo. We expect him to again be a big contributor to our offence this season.”

During his 2006 rookie campaign, Matt Leveque won his first Champion’s Cup as member of the Colorado Mammoth.  Last season, Leveque was added to Calgary’s practice roster after being released by Colorado.

Brad Richardson made his National Lacrosse League debut in 2010, playing 14 games with the Mammoth.  The Burnaby, B.C. product was moved to Colorado’s practice squad in 2011.
