Saints Add Spranger and Defranseco at Deadline

The St. Catharines “B.H.I.” Saints and the Brooklin Merchants have completed a deal with just hours remaining before the July 2 12 p.m. deadline. Brooklin sends captain Scott Defranseco and defenseman Matt Spanger to St. Catharines in exchange for future considerations.

Defranseco, a Scarborough native, comes to the Saints after playing four seasons with the Brooklin Merchants, most recently serving as their captain. Scott has accumulated a total of 108 G 118 A and 224 PTS while playing with Brooklin. He has also been a member of the CLAX Durham Turdogs for the last three seasons. Defranseco’s offensive abilities will be a very nice addition to an already potent Saints team.

Spanger is in his inaugural season of the Ontario Sr. B league but comes off a very successful first season with the CLAX South West Cyclops where he was voted to the All-Rookie team. Spanger had 3 G 3 A and 6 PTS with Brooklin before being traded to St. Catharines. Matt brings great athleticism and strong defensive prowess that will help the Saints out the back door.
