Scott Johnston Out Rest of Season for Rock

The Toronto Rock received some bad news this week with Scott Johnston being placed on the season-ending injured reserve list from the injured reserve/second level.

Toronto has been playing well, leading the league with a 7-1 record. However, their defensive depth took a bit of a hit with Johnston out and they went out and signed Bill Greer, who made his return to the NLL on Friday night against New England.

The last time Johnston played was on January 24th against Rochester and he’s played in just four games this season. Last season he played in 17 games, the first time he played a full season.

Jeff Gilbert was added to the Toronto defense this past off season, so they’ve already had an improvement in depth going into the year.

Toronto is in first place in the eastern division where they hold a two game lead over the second place Rochester Knighthawks. They have given up the least amount of goals in their division at 78 and the second least in the league. Edmonton has given up less with 54 but Toronto has played two more games than them.
