Should the Wings Go After Wiles?

Bandits acquire Aaron Wilson from Edmonton for Jeremy Thompson!!  You may wonder..  Why am I writing about this?  Here is why….

Everything about this trade leads to the non-signing of star forward Luke Wiles.  Yes Wings fans, the same Luke Wiles who was traded with Chad Thompson back in 2006 before the trade deadline for Mike Regan, who only played 6 games for the Wings then vanished. Why they did that trade will remain a mystery question of life.

Meanwhile, Wiles has 198 goals/235 assists totaling 433 pts in 107 regular season games. Also add that of his 198 goals, 54 came on the power-play and 7 while a man short.

Wiles stands at 5’11  200 lbs, but his play shows he is bigger and stronger then what the physical stature says.  Wiles has always played at 100+%, and has always left it out on the floor game after game.  This is why Wiles is a perfect fit for the Wings.

Adding Wiles to the Wings roster would only make the right side of the offense a lot stronger (Crowley, Dawson, Westervelt).  In my opinion this is a no brainer. They need to sign Wiles, bring him home back to Philly.

The next question, does adding Wiles make the Wings a legit contender?  Adding a player of his caliber does help the team.  I will say should the Wings sign Wiles, they can definitely make a run for the division title.  As far as the Champions Cup….We have to see how things shape up in camp with the defense and who makes the roster.  On paper you can say it makes them a contender, but games aren’t decided on paper. That’s why they go hard for 60 minutes!

Next week I will have a report from the Wings rookie/free agent camp which is being held in Lansdale Pa at the Bucksmont Sports Arena at 8am.   Wings camp for all players start Dec1 7am
