Which NLL Players Will Bounce Back?

Which NLL players need to improve before the 2014 season? Read on to find out.

Mark Steenhuis –Buffalo Bandits.  This is one player who drastically  needs to bounce back in 2014.  After only registering 13 goals and 36 assists (3rd lowest output of career). In 2002 & 2003 he registered 30 & 33 points.  In 2009 Steenhuis tallied 51 goals and 50 assists and in 2010 he had 36/54.  Since then he has been declining. 2011-12 he had 61 & 62 points.  He enters 2014 (13th season) hoping to bounce back.  But has his role changed? Is he looked as the “go to” guy now that Johnny Tavares is nearing the end?  With the Bandits waiting to hire a new coach will Steenhuis still be in Buffalo?  No matter where he is in 2014 he will surely need to bounce back.

Luke Wiles—Buffalo Bandits.  2013 didn’t start well for Wiles. Didn’t sign until 2 weeks before season, played a total of 12 games during the season registering only 10 goals and 11 assists.  A far cry from 2012 when he tallied 39 goals and 31 assists.  Yes I know his primary job caused him to miss training camp/practices, but when inserted in the lineup he needs to produce.  Will Wiles be able to bounce back?  Will the new head coach keep him or change his role?

Brendan Mundorf- Wings.  Only played 6 games after ankle surgery kept him sidelined, but registered 8/14 in those 6 games. So Mundorf has already started “bouncing back” from injury, and not from bad play.

Brandon Miller.—Wings.  Last two seasons for Miller have been rough personally and well as on the floor. Obviously his brother Kyles battle with cancer was on his mind as it would be with anyone. (Unfortunately Kyle lost his battle earlier this month) and on the floor with no reliable backup this past season, Miller was forced to stay in the net as the Croswell experience was a flop. Hopefully Miller will rebound this season, and the Wings will get a reliable back-up to bring this team bouncing back to above 500 and a strong playoff run.

Stephen Keogh- Knighthawks.  Back to Back Titles will overshadow your numbers.  Keogh in his rookie year of 2012 tallied 26 goals and 32 assists. This past season in only a dozen games he registered 13/11. Maybe the addition of Dan Dawson may of taken away some opportunities? But a 34 point drop?  So if there is anyone who needs to bounce back, especially if Rochester wants to be the first team to three-peat it is the #2 overall pick in 2012 Stephen Keogh.

Others to look at:

Anthony Cosmo… Concussion.. two bad seasons…has his time come to an end?

Andrew Suitor..knee injury  how will he bounce back?

Evan Kirk & Tyler Carlson Swarm Goaltenders.  2 yrs and still no one locked in as a #1

Colorado Mammoth.  As a team, they have the revolving goalie door fixed, be interesting what we see from them in 2014.

Edmonton Rush.  Was 2012 a flash in the pan? 2013 early exit after dominating on the road.

Toronto Rock. Embarrassing first round loss, fire the head coach.  How will they bounce back? Can they bounce to title # 7?

Calgary Roughnecks.  Slow start in 2012, bounced back to win west. Poulin needs to start strong
