Chiefs Acquire Jeff Shattler From Brampton

Major Series Lacrosse has some major trades taking place as the season is about to start. The Six Nations Chiefs have acquired lefty forward Jeff Shattler (Calgary Roughnecks) from the Brampton Excelsiors in return for junior defenseman Jack Donnelly and a first round draft pick in 2015.

The Chiefs are the reigning Mann Cup champions and currently host a slew of NLL plays including Cody Jamieson and Colin Doyle. Shattler’s Roughnecks are currently in the Champion’s Cup.

Shattler won a Mann Cup with the Excelsiors in 2008 before he went to the Wastern Lacrosse Association in British Columbia. He was a part of the Victoria Shamrocks who went to the Mann Cup last season and lost to the Chiefs. He won the league’s most outstanding player award last season.

Six Nations returns with one of the best rosters in the league while it appears Brampton is rebuilding. They already traded away goaltender Matt Vinc to the Peterborough Lakers before the MSL season began. The question now is if Shattler will play on the east coast, but the Chiefs giving up picks and players suggests that he is.
