CLax Three Stars: Goddard, Purves, Attwood Stealing Spotlight

Despite just two games being played in Week Four, there was no lack of action in Canadian Lacrosse League play.
The SouthWest Cyclops clawed up to .500 and improved their record to 2-2 with a 18-14 victory over the Durham Turfdogs (1-4) at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena, while the Ohsweken Demons (4-0) retain their perfect record with an 18-10 win over the Barrie Blizzard (0-4) at the Molson Centre.
With 60 goals scored in just two games, there were many worthy candidates for top player of the week honors but unfortunately there is only room for three. Here are the In Lacrosse We Trust CLax Three Stars for Week Four.

Third Star: Dylan Goddard—Durham Turfdogs:

Rookie Dylan Goddard is making a strong case for CLax Rookie of the Year in the early stages of the 2014 season as he has posted points on a consistent basis for the Durham Turfdogs. This past weekend, the Courtice, ON native added one goal and five assists for six points in the Turfdogs 18-14 loss. The Green Gaels Jr. B product has found the back of the net eight times, while adding 11 helpers for a solid 18 points in five games during his freshmen CLax campaign.

Second Star: Jimmy Purves—SouthWest Cyclops:Jimmy Purves is proving he is more than just an athletic transition player as he has netted 15 points (11 G ,4 A) in four games. Purves nearly tied his season goal total in just one game as he netted five goals this past Saturday against the Durham Turfdogs at the ILA. The Sarnia, ON native also chipped in with an assist in the 18-14 victory. If Purves continues his outstanding two-way game, he could find himself back on an NLL roster in the near future.

First Star: Chris Attwood—Ohsweken Demons:

Chris Attwood continued his dominant 2014 campaign, tallying a season high of 10 points in the Demons 18-10 victory of the Barrie Blizzard this Sunday. The 2012 CLax Outstanding Player of the Year found the back of the net six times while chipping in four assists, bringing his season points total to 38.
