NCAA Power Rankings: April 6

April 6, 2015

The rankings this week had a large amount of self-contained insanity.  Just about every team from last week’s top 5 and last 5 all won, with seemingly everyone in between losing.  This meant that I didn’t drop anyone this week, but there was plenty of shuffling.   Oh, and the Patriot and Ivy Leagues continue to baffle me.     Records and scores are including games from April 5. 1        Maryland        Record:…

Week 14 Power Rankings: Rock Starts to Crumble, But Still #1

April 6, 2015

This past week was exciting on all fronts.  Trade deadling was on Tuesday and a number of teams made some moves to help them in the playoffs this season and the future.  Then we had some huge games on the floor with two more teams clinching playoff spots, and another record being made, but not in a good way.  This week will be just as exciting as things heat up…

NCAA Power Rankings: March 23

March 27, 2015

And then there was one.   Four teams entered the week unbeaten.  Only Syracuse would avoid a loss.  They also showed that they completely deserve that top ranking by routing Duke 19-7.  Maryland gave North Carolina their first loss behind a stellar defense once again.  Speaking of defense, Notre Dame shut out Ohio State for the second goose egg in Division I this season.   There was a…

Power Rankings Week 11; Rock Still on Top

March 16, 2015

Another exciting week of lacrosse action.   Buffalo splits with Toronto and almost steals a sweep, Swarm lose both and fall further in the east, while Calgary gets loss number 8 and playoff hopes start to dwindle.  Two big division games this weekend, a game with division leaders and a game that can put teams back into the playoff race.   NLL Power Rankings   Week 11   LW (1)….1—Toronto Rock (10-2) …

Power Rankings: Week 9, Rock n Roll Still Tops

March 3, 2015

What a week!!!   A battle of division leaders went to OT, a battle between the teams who played in the Champion’s Cup was decided again by a goal.  We even had a goalie score a goal.  Calgary loses their fourth one-goal game of the year.  Most of the league is off this week as only two games are slated this weekend.  But beware, the weekend of March 13-15 is sure…

NLL Power Rankings: Week Eight

February 24, 2015

We had four games this weekend, all decided by a total of 7 goals. The Black Wolves forced the Rock to OT before falling to them.  Cody Jamieson scores the final three goals to lead the Hawks to a huge OT win.  Roughnecks save their season with seven goals by Dickson to gain their first win, and Colorado and New England had a classic battle before the Mammoth came up…

NLL Power Rankings: Week Seven

February 17, 2015

What an exciting weekend.   Toronto put a little distance in the East, Edmonton and Colorado switched positions as the Rush swept this weekend, and the Knighthawks came up huge with two wins to go from last to second in the east.  And in Calgary….things just get Rougher for the Roughnecks.   NLL Power Rankings   Week 7 (1)….1—Toronto Rock (6-1)  Can’t stop the Rock!!  This past weekend the Rock rolled their…

NLL Power Rankings: Week Six

February 10, 2015

With only two games on the schedule this week a lot happened.  Both games were exciting from beginning to end and both went to overtime.  The Swarm buzzed into second place with an overtime win at home over Rochester, and Calgary is still winless as they fell in overtime again, this time to Buffalo. This weekend we have seven games, some teams playing twice.  A lot can change after Valentine’s…
