OJBLL Conference Final Three Stars: Week 1

The Akwesasne Indians and Six Nations Rebels are just one win away from clinching their respective conference titles after opening their series with a 2-0 series stranglehold. We break down the early stages of the conference finals and select the top performers in this week’s edition of the ILWT OJBLL Three Stars.

Third Star: Joe French—Oakville Buzz

Joe French has taken his game to the next level during the Oakville Buzz’s current playoff run, scoring 23 goals, 26 assists for 49 points in nine games. The University of Virginia product has continued to fill the scoresheet in the OJBLL East Finals, netting five goals, six assists for 11 points in the first two games. Unfortunately for the Buzz, their postseason success has cooled off, going down 0-2 to the Akwesasne Indians. If the Buzz hope to turn things around, there’s no doubt French will play a big role in the potential series come back.


Second Star: Mitch Green—Six Nations Rebels
The Six Nations Rebels opened the OJBLL West Finals with a pair of wins to take a commanding 2-0 lead over the Orangeville Northmen. Of the 14 goals scored, only five goals have not involved Mitch Green. The three-time Founders Cup Champion has four goals, five assists for nine points in the first two games of the series. Green has been solid all postseason, tallying 39 points in eight games, good enough for sixth in playoff scoring.



First Star: Seth Oakes—Akwesasne Indians 

The Akwesasne Indians have scored on demand this playoffs, netting 133 goals in just nine games and they show no signs of slowing down. In the opening two games of the East Finals, the Indians have combined for 31 goals for. Leading the way for the explosive Indians offense is Seth Oakes, burying eight goals and four assists for 12 points. The UAlbany Great Dane has 21 goals, 22 assists for 43 points this postseason, good enough for fourth among all playoff scorers.
