Power Rankings Week Eight: Teams Stay Consistent

1—(1) Colorado Mammoth (6-2)   Aftter having a bye week, they maintain the top spot.  They will face the Stealth this weekend before facing the current East Division leader New England Blackwolves the following weekend.  Next Game: vs Vancouver (3-4)  Saturday 5 pm.

2—(3) New England BlackWolves (4-2)   Was off this past weekend but jump up a spot in the rankings.  So far this team has matched their victories from 2015, and the difference is Shawn Evans.  Next Game: vs Georgia (4-4) Sunday 3 pm.  

3—(4) Saskatchewan Rush (4-2)   Opened up a six goal lead and never looked back as they defeated Rochester 11-8.  McIntosh, Greer and Matthews all with two goals each.  Aaron Bold faced 37 shots and the defense caused 17 turnovers. Two games for the Rush this weekend.  Next Games: Friday: vs Buffalo (4-4) , Sunday @ Calgary 4 pm.

4— (7) Georgia Swarm (4-4) After falling to Buffalo a week before 21-14, the Swarm stung the Bandits for a 19-15 victory.  A solid team effort all around.  Next Game: @ New England  Sunday 3 pm.

5—(5) Rochester Knighthawks (3-3)   They have now lost two of last three.  Last week the Rush dismantled the Knighthawks 11-8.  The Hawks played catch up from quarter one after trailing 6-0.  Rochester looks to get back on track this weekend. Next Game:  @ Toronto  Saturday 7 pm.

6—(2) Buffalo Bandits (4-4)  This past weekend Buffalo had a chance to stake a claim in the east.  Instead of a weekend sweep in their favor, the tables were turned as the Bandits were swept by Toronto 14-12, then a return match saw Georgia win 19-15. Buffalo looks to get back on track against a tough Rush team.  Next Game: Friday @ Saskatchewan  8:30 pm

7—(8) Vancouver Stealth (3-4)  After falling behind 6-0 after the first quarter it looked as if the Stealth would be in for a long night.  But an eight goal run that started in the final three minutes of the third, lasted until the final three minutes of the game to give them a 13-12 lead.  Calgary would tie the game with nine seconds remaining, until Corey Small netted the game winner. Next Game: @ Colorado (6-2) Sunday 5 pm.

8—(6) Calgary Roughnecks (3-4)  Started out quick with a 6-0 lead but failed to hold on as Vancouver put an eight goal run to take the lead, and only Reilly O’Connor’s goal sent it into overtime before Vancouver stole a victory.  Next Game: vs Saskatchewan (4-2) Sunday pm. 

9—(9) Toronto Rock (1-6)   Finally, the Rock have won a game!  After falling behind early, the Rock came to life and battled to beat Buffalo 14-12.  Josh Sanderson’s lone goal was the game winner; Shooter also had six assists.  Goaltender Nick Rose also netted an empty net goal.  Toronto looks to make it two in a row as Rochester visits the ACC. Next Game:  vs Rochester  Saturday 7 pm.
