Mark Matthews is one of the most highly touted NLL prospects in the 2012 draft. A native of Oshawa, Ontario, Matthews played his college balls with the Denver Pioneers, who emerged as one of the most competitive programs in the country. Â The 6’4 210 attackman will be looking to be a high NLL draft pick.
Matthews was a second team All American in 2012 for the Pioneers, where he had 2.49 goals per game, along with 4 points per game, ten hat tricks, 47 goals and 67 points.
He was drafted in the first round by the Denver Outlaws into Major League Lacrosse this January. He has played three games with the Outlaws, where he has  four goals, two of them on the power play. He scored all four of his goals in his MLL debut against the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
Matthews played Junior A lacrosse in Canada with the Whitby Warriors, where he played in 13 games and scored 34 goals with 39 assists. He is owned by the Brooklin Redmen of Major Series Lacrosse, as he was protected by the Redmen as the Warriors are their affiliate Junior A team.
The Edmonton Rush have the first overall pick, getting it from the Washington Stealth in the Paul Rabil and Athan Iannucci trade. Matthews is projected to be the first pick to go to them.
