The only rookie in the Major League Lacrosse all star game, Matt Gibson is a name already known to lacrosse fans. But can this former Yale player make it in the National Lacrosse League?
18th in MLL in scoring, the Lizards rookie has twenty three points in seven games, twelve of those being goals. Gibson helped the Yale Bull Dogs get into the NCAA tournament this season, where they fell to Notre Dame.
In 2011, Gibson was an honorable mention for All American, and he was on the All-Ivy League team and All- New England team. He was a second round pick by the Lizards this year in a trade from the Bayhawks that sent the Hawks John Grant Jr.
How will Gibson’s game transition into box lacrosse? It is hard to say. At just 5’11 and 175 pounds, Gibson should be a later round pick, I would say fourth or fifth round.
