It was announced today that for the first time ever, the American East Championships will be hosted by the Stony Brook Seawolves. They will be held there in both 2013 and 2014.
All three games of the tournament will be held at the Long Island field Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium with the championship game to be televised live on ESPNU.
“We are thrilled and honored to serve as the 2013 and 2014 host of the America East Men’s Lacrosse Championship at one of the premier lacrosse venues in the country,” Stony Brook University Director of Athletics Jim Fiore said in a press release. “Stony Brook has a rich tradition of excellence in lacrosse, and fans of the sport here on Long Island have embraced Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium as the destination for championship men’s and women’s lacrosse. We are excited that Stony Brook University continues to be highly regarded as a host for championship events, and we look forward to partnering with America East to produce a first-class tournament for all participants.”
Stony Brook has led the American East in attendance the last eight seasons and are located in the lax hotbed of Long Island, making it a natural choice for the event.
