The Chesapeake Bayhawks had quite the end to the 2013 MLL season. After being the second best team in the league for most of the season, the Bayhawks finished the season on top after defeating the Charlotte Hounds 10-9 in Philadelphia. The win marked the team’s third MLL title in four years and second in a row.
Despite winning a championship, the Bayhawks were just as active in the offseason as they pulled off two trades. The first trade was a blockbuster deal which saw Chesapeake receive 2012 League MVP Brendan Mundorf. The Denver Outlaws received 2013 Championship MVP John Grant Jr., Mike Simon and a draft pick.
The two teams weren’t done trading with each other, however, as they traded rookies to one another. The Outlaws received SSDM Domenic Sebastiani in exchange for LSM Brian Megill.
With the trades, the Bayhawks got younger on both sides of the ball. While Grant Jr. and Simon were very productive players for the Bayhawks, Megill will likely take over Jesse Bernhardt’s role in the midfield as Bernhardt moves down low to replace Simon. Mundorf is much younger than Grant Jr. and outscored Grant Jr. by eight points last season (41 to 32).
As the team continues to tinker with the roster in the chase for a three peat, here is the projected 23-man roster that the Bayhawks will look to protect heading into 2014.
