2015 NLL Prospect Watch

It’s not even close to the 2015 NLL draft, but let’s take a look at which prospects we should be watching before next September. This draft is projected to be possibly the best in the league’s history.

Reilly O’Connor: Plays for the Whitby Warriors and in college with Georgetown. He’s very tall, a lefty, and an assist machine. Over the past two seasons alone he has 157 of them for 205 points overall. He’s arguably been the best player in Jr A for the past two seasons.

Wesley Berg: Has played with the University of Denver and will no doubt be an MLL pick this January, possibly to the Denver Outlaws too. Berg is a part of the Coquitlam Adanacs and is a strong right handed scorer who could be the second or third pick overall. He was a part of the 2012 group of four prospects that took the lacrosse world by storm. Matt Dinsdale, Robert Church, and Ben McIntosh already drafted.

Lyle Thompson: One of the Thompson’s that dominated that lacrosse world this year. Ty and Miles were already drafted into the NLL this past season, but Lyle might be the best of all and could be the first overall pick.

Randy Staats: Staats has been a dominating box lacrosse player since he was 16 years old, and he has been a known commodity for NLL teams. Finally, they will have a chance to draft him. When he was 16 years old he was named MVP of the OLA league when he had 95 points in his first season.

Turner Evans: A Peterborough Laker along with an Ohio State Buckeye, Evans is another first round pick candidate. He is cousins with NLL star Shawn Evans and has a lot of the same skill sets. The lefty forward had 86 points this past season.

Graeme Hossack: Getting to the defense, Hossack is the best DMan in the draft. He was the OLA’s junior defender of the year award winner for the past two summers with the Whitby Warriors.

Jacob Ruest: Forward with the Burlington Chiefs and also played at Robert Morris. Righty forward who can put up assists and had 84 points in 2011.

Chad Tutton: Whitby Warriors, who have a strong crop of prospects for 2015, and also has been a star with the North Carolina Tar Heels in the college ranks. Transition player who can become a dominant defender but also knows what to do on the offensive end of the ball.
