The 2012 MLL All Star Game is right around the corner, taking place on June 30 at FAU Stadium in Palm Beach County, Fla.
This years All Star Game is a little different then years past, as the fans were able to vote for their favorite players to make the All Star game.
Fan votes counted for one third of the overall voting points.
The teams this year are being formed as a Young Guns vs. Old School format, with players who joined the league between 2001 and 2008 on the Old School team and players who joined the league after 2008 will be on the Young Gun team.
In this article we are going to focus on the players that made the All Star game from the Denver Outlaws.
Lets start with the players that made the Old School team.
First up we will start with a house hold name to MLL fans… Brendan Mundorf (Attack).
Mundorf is the MLL’s second-leading scorer with 30 points, Mundorf has scored 17 goals with 13 assists in six games this year for the Outlaws.
He was named the MLL Offensive Player of the Week award 2 weeks ago, for the sixth time in his career, after scoring six goals and two assists against the Rochester Rattlers.
Next up is Lee Zink (Defense).
Zink played college at Maryland and joined the league back in 2005 where he played for Baltimore, and then moved to the Outlaws in 2006 where he has played since.
Lee Zink has a career total of 185 ground balls, with 11 so far this season.
Lets move on to the Outlaws goalie Jesse Schwartzman.
Schwartzman played at John Hopkins and has been in the league since 2007 and has played for the Denver Outlaws since joining the league.
He helped the Outlaws make the Playoffs in 2007, and made the 2008 All Star game.
So far this season Schwartzman has made 97 saves and allowed 86 goals, for a save percentage of 53%, with an overall career save record of 54%.
That rounds out the Outlaws players on the Old School team, so now lets move on to the Young Guns.
First up for the Young Guns we have Peet Poillon (Middie).
Poillon played for UMBC in college and joined the league in 2009.
Poillon has moved around the league a bit, as he started with Boston in 2009 but didn’t see any play until he was traded to the Bayhawks in 2009 and then went to Denver in 2011 where he has been since.
So far this year Poillon has had 11 goals, 1 2-point goal, and 9 assists.
He has a career high of 62 goals and 28 assists.
Last but not least we have Jeremy Sieverts (Middie).
Sieverts played in college for Maryland and has been in the MLL since 2010 where he started with Chesapeake.
This is his first year as an Outlaw after a trade with Chesapeake for Drew Westervelt, and has started this year with 16 goals, 5 2-point goals, and 4 assists.
Sieverts has a career high of 20 goals and 7 2-point goals, and 4 assists.
That rounds out the All Star players from the Denver Outlaws.
