This morning began what for most of the team is the second week of training camp. This is going to be the first weekend with just the full team as last week featured several free agents trying for spots. Nearly all players were in attendance for the morning session, with less than a handful missing, but they should be set to go for the evening and Sunday practices. The Black…

On Friday, November, 7th, Providence College held an intra-squad scrimmage to give their players some live action as the fall calendar winds down. Rather than a typical scrimmage of likely starters vs. everyone else, the squad was split into two groups (black and white) that were established earlier in the fall, making the competition between teams much more balanced. This afforded us the chance to see plenty of players and…
We were invited to a tour of Providence Lacrosse’s facilities following their scrimmage on Friday, November 7. We’ve included some photos below of their state of the art film, locker and weight rooms. This wing of the building is strictly built for the men’s lacrosse team, which is impossible to miss right as you walk in. In the common area for the coaches’ offices, a few of the program’s awards…
On Thursday, October 30, the Providence College Men’s Lacrosse Coaching staff held a coaching clinic open to coaches of all levels across New England. This clinic was also featured last fall in the midst of a major facilities upgrade for the lacrosse program. Coming off just his second season as a head coach, Coach Chris Gabrielli is using these clinics to both promote the emerging program and to help grow…

Right about now is typically when the LXM Pro Tour has started up in the past to bring high level lacrosse to non-traditional areas around the country. We reached out to Adrenaline, who is the force behind LXM to see what their…
Transition is an interesting position in the NLL. Every team approaches it differently as some make them glorified defenders or just forwards that won’t get yelled at if they are stuck in the back end of the floor. Others such as Minnesota and Buffalo make them a large part of how they want to act as a team by causing turnovers, pushing the ball up the floor and creating mismatches…
Being a lacrosse goalie requires a number of very specialized skills that few master. The ideal player can command the defense, throw accurate 40 yard breakout passes, defend out of the cage when needed, and of course stop every type of shot thrown at them. Because of this level of specialization, most programs are never able to find someone who can do all those things at a truly elite level. Coaches frequently…
