Bandits Sign Rooney and Thompson

The Buffalo Bandits have signed three players to one year contracts today, signing restricted free agents Jamie Rooney and Jerome Thompson along with draft pick Jordan Dance.

Rooney joined Buffalo after a brief stint in Toronto following his time with the Boston Blazers; Toronto selected him in the Boston dispersal draft. Before that, he spent his first three seasons in the league with Philadelphia, Rochester, and New York.

Rooney has 152 career points in six seasons, his career high coming in 2008 when he scored 43 points in his rookie year in Philadelphia. The next closest was 24 in 2011 with Boston, but he has never seemed to come close to his stellar rookie year.

Thompson recently helped lead the CanAm League’s Onondaga Redhawks to a President’s Cup champion in Jr B by tying in the leading scoring category in the tournament. He was last in an NLL camp before the 2013 season with the then Washington Stealth.

Dance, a product out of Orangeville, was drafted by Buffalo in the third round with the 24th overall pick.
