In a deal right before the MLL trade deadline today, the Florida Launch sent 2013 MLL MVP Kevin Crowley to the Chesapeake Bayhawks for Steven Brooks, Jon Hayes and David Earl. The Bayhawks also get a 2015 fourth round collegiate draft pick.
Crowley, who is currently with Team Canada, has 17 points this season. The three midfielders have a combined 17 points. Earl was just traded to the Bayhawks in return for Michael Kimmel in late June, so this will be his third team in less than a month.
Brooks has struggled this year with just eleven goals for the last place Bayhawks. With all of the injuries, he has seen adequate playing time but the Bayhawks have still struggled all year.
Crowley was a number one overall pick with both the NLL and MLL, and started his field lacrosse career with the Hamilton Nationals, who moved to Florida before this season. He missed a portion of the start of the season due to finishing his NLL season with the Philadelphia Wings.
Florida has lost their last four games and have slid out of their third place seeding. The Bayhawks lost last week to Ohio but remain in playoff contention with both Charlotte and Florida struggling.
