The Chesapeake Bayhawks defeated the New York Lizards Saturday night 9-3 for their home opener at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md. The Bayhawks move to 2-0 on the season while the Lizards pick up their first loss and are now 1-1.
After scoring 17 last week in their victory over Rochester, the Bayhawks were slowed down on Saturday, but still put the hurting on the Lizards by the final whistle.
Veteran attackman Ben Rubeor scored a career-high seven goals while goaltender Kip Turner anchored a suffocating defensive effort with 17 saves to help his Bayhawks defeat the Lizards before a big crowd of 11,125 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
The next game for the Bayhawks is Saturday, May 11 at 7 p.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md. against the Ohio Machine. The Machine are 0-1 so far this season and look to be .500 after their game against the Bayhawks on Saturday. The Bayhawks look to start their season streak above .500 Saturday evening as well.
