The Cannons went into this game needing a win for the overall tiebreaker over the Hounds and to take sole possession of the fourth seed in the MLL playoffs. They got out to an early 3-1 start with goals from Paul Rabil, Brent Adams and Mike Stone.
Stone scored his second of the night just a few minutes later to give the Cannons a 4-1 lead. That lead stayed the same as they headed into the second quarter. Matt Danowski made it a one goal game again before Brett Schmidt ripped a two pointer to tie things up at four.
Ryan Flanagan intercepted a pass from Stone and took it end to end to score. Pat Heim scored for the Cannons but then it was John Haus who gave the Hounds their 6-5 lead.
Kevin Buchanan found the net for the Cannons to make it 7-5 before Danowski tallied his second of the game. Manny and Buchanan scored again to close out the half with a 9-6 Cannons lead.
The game was sent to overtime thanks to a terrific Jordan Burke save, and the game winning goal would go to new Cannons attackman Stephen Berger for his first goal in a Cannons uniform.
The Cannons are 5-5, at .500 for the first time all season and now own the tiebreaker over the Charlotte Hounds. In two weeks they hit the road to take on the Bayhawks while Charlotte will host the Lizards.
