The Black Wolves got a big win last weekend over the Minnesota Swarm which is keeping their season alive. Kevin Crowley had the huge game winning goal in the game and had a few assists as well. Kevin is still leading the team in points with forty-two this season.
For New England they had a long break and got their legs back plus regrouped as a team last week to get the win over another strangling team in the Swarm. After starting the year 2-0 this team turned some heads but then dropped off not winning again until last weekend. They did not even have Kevin Buchanan in the lineup last week as he is the third leading scorer with thirty-two points. The hope is he will be back tonight vs. Calgary.
The other Buchanan on this team, Kyle, is second in points and is having a great season with thirty-seven points of his own. Both Buchanans , Crowley, Pat Saunders and Jamie Lincoln have really been the core of this offense and have played good together all season. Quinn Powless was a promising rookie who was lost for the season but Brett Bucktooth who is a long time veteran of the NLL game in after missing a few games with injury and has done what he has be asked to do in just four games Bucktooth has thirteen points.
Mark Cockerton has only played the last four games as well and has scored eleven so far but showed to be a young asset for this franchise to have. Josh Johnson is another young rookie who has seen time in two of the last three games and has played well but has only recorded an assist.
Defensively the team is led around Americans Joel White and Mike Manley who are both good NLL defenders also rookie Bill O’Brien has added size to the back end playing in every game so far. Sheldon Burns has played in seven games so far as a rookie and has been a strong player in the transition game scoring five points in his first year out of Dowling College.
Mike McNamara is also a young player who has been in the league for the last few years and has played well so far in 2015. In net Evan Kirk has made 224 saves and is letting up a average of 12 goals a game. This team has some good players in its line up and maybe can pull its way into the playoffs. Every week for here on out will be a battle and this game vs. a Calgary team who went from NLL runners up to bottom of the western conference will be a test for this Black Wolves team.
