The fourth Creators Cup championship game will take place today in Barrie as the home team Blizzard host the Ohsweken Demons for a chance to take the Canadian Lacrosse League championship.
Barrie defeated a scrappy Southwest Cyclops to advance while the Demons defeated the Durham TurfDogs. Now the top two teams will face off for the league title.
The Blizzard defeated the Demons twice in their season series with 9-7 and 17-11 victories. The Blizzard have won their last six games as they have made their championship run. Meanwhile, this is the second straight finals appearance after they lost to the Niagara Lock Monsters last season.
Barrie’s offense is one to be reckoned with, and they will be a tough matchup for Ohsweken goalie Jake Henhawk. Mike Teeter led the league with 33 points. They have also allowed a league low 76 goals this season, so that will be another challenge for the Demons.
Ohsweken is a veteran team that knows what it takes to win, but the Creators Cup has eluded them in the past three seasons. Led by experienced lacrosse vets like Wayne Van Every, Chris Attwood, and Roger Vyse, the Demons have a chance even against a red hot Blizzard.
Game time is set for 2pm today at the Barrie Molson Centre.
