Tonight in the MSL the Brampton Excelsiors (4-14) host the Oakville Rock (2-12-1). Both these teams have struggled this season and are both at the bottom of the MSL standings. The Excelsiors are currently on a three game losing streak and lost their last game 14-10 to Brooklin. While the Rock are on an eight game losing streak and desperately need a win.
Despite both these teams being at the bottom of the standings Brampton has been the better team as they defeated the Rock twice so far this season by scores of 9-8, and 10-5. The Rock will need to step up if they want to have any hope of beating the Excelsiors in their final meeting tonight. Expect both teams to be motivated to pick up a victory as neither wants to finish dead last in the MSL this season.
The Excelsiors have had a fall from grace this season after being a perennial championship contender over the last few seasons they seem to have lost their winning ways. So far this season the Excelsiors have been a two man show as Joe Resetarits and Mike Burke have been the only two consistent plays on the Excelsiors this season as the rest of the team has struggled. Against Oakville Brampton will need both these players to be on their game if their offense hopes to have any success. If the Execelsiors can build an early lead they will be able to easily defeat the Rock.
The Oakville Rock have had numerous struggles this season from their stagnant offense, weak goaltending and shaky defense. The fact that Oakville has not won in eight games proves how inept the team has been this season. If Oakville hopes to have a chance against Brampton they will first and foremost need Goaltender Tye Belanger to step up and hold off the early Brampton assault in order to keep the Rock in the game. The Rock will need to find a way to create constant pressure in order to get their offense going and keep Brampton from taking control of this game.
In the end Brampton will once again defeat Oakville as they are the superior team and will once again overwhelm Oakville’s defense with their superior offense.
