Rooths Sports Events, Canadian Lacrosse Association and Lacrosse Federation of Quebec with the collaboration of evenko are proud to host an international lacrosse game at the Bell Centre on November 17th, at 2pm. Team Canada, unbeaten world champions since 2003, will face off against The Iroquois, 2011 World Championship finalists.
For the first time in history, an international lacrosse game will be hosted at the Bell Centre. This is a unique chance to see the best National Lacrosse League (NLL) players in action.
This game will feature the best two teams in the world; Team Canada, World Champions since 2003 and Team Iroquois, finalist at the 2011 World Lacrosse Championship hosted in Prague. The game will feature some of the best NLL players playing today.
“Team Canada looks forward showcasing the world’s greatest lacrosse players at Bell Centre in Montreal”, said Dean French, Chair of Team Canada Lacrosse.
For its part, Sterling Deer, Ambassador of Team Iroquois and founder of Sterling Lacrosse, added “For the Iroquois Nation, Lacrosse is more than a sport it is an important element of our culture that we have been proudly communicated to the rest of the world. Presenting a lacrosse game at the Bell Centre, one of the most prestigious sports building in the world, is undoubtedly a fantastic opportunity to show case our sport.”
For Pierre Filion, Director of the Quebec Lacrosse Federation, “This is an opportunity for the public to discover our sport. The federation is involved in the presentation of this event because we believe it will contribute positively to the growth of Lacrosse in Quebec and to the eventual return of a professional lacrosse franchise in Montreal.”
And Martin Routhier, promoter of the event added, “It is an important step in the process to obtain a professional lacrosse franchise in Montreal. We believe Montreal is the right market to host a successful NLL team. Part of our plan is to establish a long-term grassroots program that includes events such as hosting an international yearly event in partnerships with local communities.”
