The Cannons led 13-8 going into the fourth quarter but the New York offense couldn’t pick up. Jordan Burke made 16 saves in the win against the struggling Lizards offense.
The Cannons and Lizards are now both 4.5 games out of first place, and half a game out of the final playoff spot. Rochester and Charlotte are both four games out and if those teams lose, the Lizards and Cannons will have a chance to be back in the playoff race.
For the Lizards, Rob Pannell put up five points and Stephen Berger snapped his scoreless streak with a goal. Max Seibald added five points and Mark Matthews had two goals. The Lizards only have more goals than Rochester and last place Ohio, so they need to step up the offense to stay in this race.
