Tonight the Boston Cannons will fight for their playoff spot against the second place Denver Outlaws. The Cannons are tied for third place with the Long Island Lizards.
Long Island is technically ahead of the Cannons in the standings since they have beat Boston twice, so the Cannons are currently the last qualifying team.
Boston and Denver faced off this season in May, at a time when both teams were 3-0 and the Cannons came up with a 17-10 win in Colorado.
Matt Poskay scored five goals in the Boston loss to the Lizards last week, and is just two goals away from reaching 200 goals and becoming one of just five other MLL players to score 200 goals in their career.
Meanwhile, Kevin Buchanan has four more games to get three points to tie his career high of 33 points, and he already has twenty goals, his career high. Paul Rabil has 54 points this season and is just 17 away from breaking the single season MLL record of 71.
Meanwhile, the Outlaws lead the league in shooting percentage at .399, which will be a challenge for Jordan Burke, who leads the league in nearly every goalie category.
Anthony Kelly was a huge spark in the faceoff circle for the Outlaws in their blow out win against Charlotte last week, and they also broke a franchise record with 51 ground balls, nine of which came from Kelly. He and Chris Eck facing off should be exciting to watch.
Eck struggled last week, winning just nine of twenty eight faceoffs. It does not get any easier for him against Kelly.
The Outlaws will not be home again all season, finishing their year with four road games and then Championship weekend in Boston if they get in.
Game time tonight is 7pm and the game can be seen live on CBS Sports Network.
