Major League Lacrosse announced Friday the addition of Charlotte Hounds Goalie Adam Ghitelman to the 2012 All-Star Game roster. This year’s event is presented by Moe’s Southwest Grill and will be held on June 30 at FAU Stadium in Palm Beach County, Fla. The game will feature a Young Guns vs. Old School format. Players who joined the league between 2001-08 will compete for the Old School team, while players who joined between 2009-12 will compete for the Young Guns.
Ghitelman will be joining teammates Billy Bitter, Ryan Flanagan and Jovan Miller in competing for the Young Guns squad. Ghitelman was drafted by the Denver Outlaws in the eighth round (45th overall) of the 2011 Collegiate Draft. The Hounds acquired the goalie through the 2012 MLL Expansion Draft, selecting him 30th overall. This will be Ghitelman’s first All-Star appearance. Through seven games this season (269 minutes, 22 seconds) he has a 15.15 goals against average and .534 save percentage.
The Young Guns team will be coached by first-year Cannons Head Coach Steve Duffy, while Ohio Machine Coach Ted Garber — who was a coach in the MLL Summer Showcase and in the league’s inaugural year — will head the Old School team. Stephen Berger is the lone Hounds player competing for the Old School team. The game will be televised live on ESPN2 HD at 7:30pm ET. Tickets to the event can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
