After winning an MVP and being one of the top three players in the Canadian Lacrosse League for three years, it was time for Chris Attwood to move up a level. The only option would be the National Lacrosse League.
Midway through camp, the Rochester Knighthawks signed their former draft pick in Attwood to their training camp roster. He made the team going into their season.
“To make the Rochester Knighthawks roster is the greatest feeling, coming to such an incredible organization and playing with the world’s best players is a huge accomplishment for me,” said Attwood.
Attwood was draftted by the Knighhtawks but has never played an NLL game, instead dominating the minor league circuit with CLax.
“I learned a lot being there at the Knighthawks camp, they all are so humble and proud to be a part of such a great organization!” says Attwood. “The effort to stay in the NLL is going to be huge, there’s so much talent out there. You just have to put in the time and work outside of practices and games to stay in the best shape and stay sharp out on the floor.”
Rochester is one of the deepest teams in the league at forward; despite losing Johnny Powless, they still gained Jordan Hall. Yet, Stephen Keogh is missing the start of the season, so Attwood is getting an opportunity.
“My role is to be an “off-ball” pick guy to help create space for the veteran players, and to be a good team guy,” says Attwood.
