The high powered offenses of the Canadian Lacrosse League clash Friday night as the 2-0 Niagara Lock Monsters travel to the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena to take on the first place Ohsweken Demons on Friday night.
The Lock Monsters have scored an impressive 43 goals in their first two games of CLax existence. Leading the way for Niagara is rookie Corey Fowler. The 2009 Canadian University Lacrosse Association scoring leader has 8 goals and 10 assists for 18 points while former NLL star Kim Squire has found the back of the cage 4 times while adding 10 helpers.
The Demons are lead by Roger Vyse, Delby Powless and Wayne VanEvery who lead the league in scoring respectively. The trio have registered a 75 points combined in four games.
Goaltending for the Lock Monsters has been solid as Grant Crawley has made 40 plus saves for wins in both starts this year and sits second in league saves. The former Six Nations Arrow netminder has posted a .762 save percentage, good enough for fifth in the league.
While the Lock Monsters have rolled with one tender, the Demons have split the duties for their technicians of the tangled twine. Jeff Powless has a perfect 3-0 record while posting 12.51 goals against average. Former Rochester Knighthawk Jake Henhawk has made two appearances, including one start where he suffered a loss against Brampton. Look to see Powless get the nod for the game Friday en route to keeping his record perfect.
Expect to see a high scoring bout as two top talents in CLax go head to head on their route to first place.
