The Niagara Lock Monsters will look extend their winning streak to five this Friday as they take on the Iroquois Ironmen at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
The game will not be a cake walk as the Ironmen are coming off a huge 17-14 victory over rival Ohsweken Demons last week. Iroquois had an offensive explosion as thirteen players registered multipoint games. Leading the way for the Ironmen was Alex Kedoh Hill who found the back of the cage four times while adding five helpers for an outstanding nine points. Rookie netminder Danko continued to make an impact in his first CLax season as he made 47 saves on 61 attempts including 16 in the fourth quarter to help clinch the Ironmen’s first win of the season.
The Lock Monsters picked up a 13-12 win over the Durham Turfdogs last Saturday in a hard fought battle at the GM Centre in Oshawa. Leading the way for the Lock Monsters was Andrew Potter who tallied a pair of goals and five assists. The big story line of the game was in between the pipes as goaltender Connor Danko made 40 stops on 52 Turfdog attempts. Danko has four wins in his first four professional starts and has played a huge role in the Turfdogs current winning streak. Danko currently leads all goaltenders in both goals against average (9.31) and save percentage (.820%).
Two rookie goaltenders will go head to head this Friday night not only to continue their strong freshmen campaigns, but also to pick up a vital win en route to the playoff push.
