CLax Names Top Players of Week One

The Canadian Lacrosse League (CLax) is pleased to announce its first Players of the Week for the 2015 Season.

Offensive Player of the Week: Kyle Clancy – Durham Turfdogs – Clancy dominated last weekend racking up 5 assists and 1 goal leading the Turfdogs victory in the season opener.

Honourable mention goes to Southwest’s Dan Keane. Keane was able to tally 4 goals his CLax debut.

Defensive Player of the Week: Cole Murray – Durham Turfdogs – Murray was rock solid allowing only 4 goals against on 49 shots. He also added an assist for the Turfdogs.

Honourable mention goes to Southwest’s Eric Pitre. Pitre was an aggressor on defence for the Cyclops. He also gained an assist.

Transition Player of the Week: Mark Farthing – Durham Turfdogs – Farthing kicked off the scoring for the season as he pulled away for a breakaway goal just 1:41 into the game.

Honourable mention goes to Barrie’s Mike Mawdsley. Mawdsley was instrumental in the Blizzard’s efforts for a comeback. He managed to get a hat trick and 2 assists.

Rookie of the Week: Dan Keane – Southwest Cyclops – The 1st round pick in the 2014 Entry Draft racked up 4 goals for the Cyclops, and proved why he was so desired in this year’s draft.

Honourable mention goes to Niagara’s Dustin Gatt. Gatt displayed a tremendous amount of hard work and heart on the floor in his CLax premier. He added a goal for the Lock Monsters
