With week 8 of the CLAX season in the books here are this weeks power rankings.
1.Toronto Shooting Stars (7-2)- No team has been hotter than the Shooting Stars as they are on a four game winning streak after winning 3 games in four days this past weekend. The Stars have been on fire thanks to the strong play of Angus Dinely who has an impressive 6-1 record on the year. Right now the Stars sit on top of CLAX and are the team to beat.
2. Niagara Lock Monsters(6-2)- The Monsters looked to be in trouble against the TurfDogs this weekend but were able to pull a win out. The Monster continue to roll and with a game in hand are hot on the trail of the Shooting Stars. The Monsters have been led by Andrew Potter who sits third in league scoring with 45 points.
3. Oshweken Demons (5-4)- The Demons have stumbled as of late losing to the Ironmen this weekend but the Demons are still one of the top teams in the league. The Demons offense is almost unstoppable with 3 players in the top four for scoring in CLAX. Expect the Demons to bounce back sooner than later and make a push for first place.
4. Durham TurfDogs(4-4)- The TurfDogs lost both their games this weekend but their hard fought performance against Niagara earns them this spot. Durham took Niagara to their limit and almost pulled out a win. Durham needs to get their offense going if they can do that their defense is strong enough to win games.
5. Brampton Inferno (4-4)- The Inferno are free falling as they lost both their games this weekend including one against the Barrie Blizzard who were winless heading into their game this weekend. The fact the Inferno gave the Blizzard their first win drops them in the rankings. The Inferno need to find a way to turn things around or they will continue to free fall.
6. Iroquois Ironmen(1-6)- The Ironmen picked up a huge win this weekend over the Oshweken Demons and lost a tight game to Toronto on Sunday. If Iroquois can get players other than Chris Atwood to step up they could be a force. The Ironmen need to capitalize on their momentum from their big win in order to keep their hopes of a late playoff push alive.
7. Barrie Blizzard(1-6) – The Blizzard got the monkey off their back this weekend as they won their first game in franchise history over the Brampton Inferno. Barrie has the team on paper to win so don’t be surprised if they turn around their season after this win and make a playoff push.
