The quest for the second Creator’s Cup has become closer as the Durham Turfdogs and the Iroquois Ironmen have etched their names into Final Four weekend. As we get deeper into playoffs, players will need to step up their play to help their teams extend their post season run. Here are the three stars from the first round of the Canadian Lacrosse League Playoffs.
1st Star: Chris Attwood – Iroquois Ironmen- (3G,6A,9P)
Chris Attwood netted a buzzer beater in the fourth quarter to send the Iroquois Ironmen into the Canadian Lacrosse Leauge Final Four for the second year in a row. The 2012 CLax Offensive MVP put the Ironmen on his back as he tallied three goals, six assists for nine points. Attwood’s offensive domination will be vital for the Ironmen to make a run for the 2013 Creator’s Cup.
2nd Star: Shane Scott – Durham Turfdogs – (4G,2A,6P)
Shane Scott carried his solid play from the regular season into the playoffs as he found the back of the cage four times while adding a pair of helpers. The former Halton Hill Bulldog’s six point night helped the Turfdogs pick up a 11-9 victory over the Brampton Inferno.
3rd Star: Kevin Croswell – Durham Turfdogs – (48 Saves on 52 shots)
Kevin Croswell was outstanding in the Turfdogs win over the Inferno as he made 48 saves including arguably the save of the season. Croswell looked to be down and out after a Jordan Coffey fake but he flailed out his arm to make a beauty glove save to steal away what seemed to be a sure goal. The former five year National Lacrosse League veteran has seen little action in 2013 but has seem to find his groove at the right time. The Peterborough,ON native will need to continue his stellar play in between the pipes if the Turfdogs want to be on the floor April 21st competing for the Creator’s Cup.
